DESCRIPTION: a sketch of a battle scene of the attack on Hill 102, Tarakan in WWII drawn by Harold Roy Winter
DATE: approx. June 1945
CURRENT OWNER OF THE ITEM: Valda Phillips (nee Winter)
STORY/ABOUT:  Harold Roy Winter (or as he was known in the army, Roy Harold Winter) was my great uncle. I never knew him, but it’s obvious that had an amazing talent at sketching.  Drawn on a large (bigger than A3) sheet of card, the detail in it is sketch amazing, but also scary and sad to see. Roy was in the 2/48th Australian Infantry Battalion.
