DESCRIPTION: this is a framed studio portrait photograph of John Beavis “JB” Randell, who was one of my great grandpa’s. Taken at “McNeill’s Photo Studios and Palace of Art Framing” which was in Rundle Street, Adelaide.
DATE: undated, quite likely around 1915-1918, when he would have been in his late 30s, early 40s
CURRENT OWNER OF THE ITEM: Anthea Phillips (nee Hannaford)
STORY/ABOUT: My great grandpa did a lot. He was not only a farmer and orchardist in the Gumeracha region of the Adelaide Hills, he was also a State parliamentarian, he was involved with the Fruit Growers Association of SA, and the South Australia Baptist Union. He was a lay preacher and lay pastor at Birdwood, and taught himself shorthand, homeopathy, piano more.
