The Old Wood Box

old wood box

DESCRIPTION: this is an old copper wood box that is made of copper and is patterned all the way around, including on the lid.  The round feet on the bottom are made of wood, and are incredibly smooth.
DATE: I don’t know the date as there’s nothing distinguishing on it, like a maker. But as it was owned by my great grandparents any they were together between 1912-1964, so sometime within that date.
CURRENT OWNER OF THE ITEM: Alona Tester (nee Phillips)
STORY/ABOUT: The story I have been told about this from family members is that this wood box belonged to my great grandparents, Ralph Gould Hannaford and his wife Dorothy Hannaford (nee McCullough), and now it’s ended up with me. While it is really lovely, it is just too small to be a useful wood box, together with the fact that the chain on the lid won’t let you open the lid up fully to get the inside metal crate out. But it is a lovely family heirloom that I shall add to my house which seems to be growing smaller with every heirloom added to it.
